Great Britain Great BritainQuote for a 2 hour PR shoot

A PR/Ad agency have contacted me and asked me to provide a quote to shoot pictures of a local wind turbine manufacturer, the agency are hoping to get the pictures into local/national papers(business pages).

Brief:

- 2 hours

- portraits + newsy shots of plant

- images wired to national/local papers

- hi-res images on a cd

This is a great idea for a website, kicking myself for not thinking of it.

You need to be looking at £250 minimum its hard to be accurate as you don't say how far or how long you have to travel to and from the job. Also be sure you are licensing the images for a set period in a set territory and media for Editorial use only.
12 months, UK, Editorial use only in printed media. If they want web use that should bump the price up as should extending the period of time they can use them for.

Hi,

I will charge:
- $200 for the first hour
- $100 for additional hours
- $75 for post production
- $20 for the files on DVD
- Any additional fees like parking, mileages, meal... etc.

But, I request all the time a minimum of 3 hours and also be very specific on the pictures usage. Editorial would be include but not for corporate use or any other use.

So your estimate will be around $495.

I would charge a flat rate for the shoot and have an extra for shooting time outside of that range. Clients don't want to be nickel and dimed, ($20 for CD, $75 for post, etc...) Just say a rate for the whole shoot and be sure to be specific on the usage rights.

Good luck.

That price seems ok. Don't know your geographic market well, but think it could be 50-100% higher.  I would be sure to restrict the usage to editorial and internal use only, not to include advertising.

You never know, you might get a killer shot that with some post work could make a great ad.
