Assignment Questions

Great Britain Great BritainWhat contracts should I have in place before shooting a wedding?

Wah, legal stuff. I know it's a necessity, but I've been burying my head in the sand for too long now....

For a wedding shoot I guess I need to protect myself against equipment failure, photographer failure, copyright infringement (anything else?).

I'm going to have two bodies and enough lenses to get through all but the biggest of disasters in terms of equipment, but what if I'm taken seriously ill or dealing with a v. recent bereavement or some such?

And if I'm giving away high res copies of the finished product (as has been requested) how do I protect my copyright and what should/shouldn't I let the client do with the images?

Are there standard contracts out there that I can use?

Lots of questions there! I'm sure there are more too. This is such a minefield area and I'd hate to get burnt for the lack of a signature on the right piece of paper.

Many thanks,
Mark
