QuestionThinking of building a portfolio site in WordPress - any theme suggestions?

I've got an out-of-date flash slideshow as a portfolio on a site I built in Dreamweaver. I need a new, quick, easy way to upload my newest photos. I'm thinking of rebuiding my site with WordPress and I'm looking for suggestions for a theme to use (would prefer a free theme, but would consider a premium theme).

The ideal situation would be: I've got some new pix I want to post. I upload them once and they magically go to 3 different places: a blog, facebook, and a portfolio page on my web site. I realize this requires some good plugins - looking for suggestions there too. thanks!

Hey dbass,

I use Modularity by Graph Paper Press on my site, ascottkingsley.com. The themes are not free but are of high quality and the support is first rate. They offer a series of themes for photographers, video folks and multimedia producers. If you find the perfect plugins please let us all know about them.

If you check out my site, the Honeysuckle color is temporary!

Thanks for your answer. You probably know this already, but your site works really well on mobile devices - I looked at it on my iPod Touch and it was perfect!

Who are you using to host your WP blog?  I did purchase the elegant themes but just getting started is lacking in instruction!  Any help much appreciated.  Direct email:  pam@artsyphotographer.com  Thanks Phil!

Just yesterday I was thinking about buying Deep Focus for a second photography site. $40 seems reasonable for the theme.

shaken grid and shaken grid premium from shaken and stirred web are good themes for people that don't like to write too-much, and you can also transition from free to premium and still do things the same way

In the long run you might be happier with a premium theme. One with more "under the hood" (SEO etc) and solid support.

Have a look at the themes built on the Genesis framework at StudioPress.

The tutorials and support forums will help with the plugins you want.

You might also consider staying away from Flash for anything you want everyone to see.

One of my past clients sells themes for self managed WP sites. I've never used them as a customer but they were a good client for me.
