Photo Licensing Questions

United States United StatesHow to license images to a major clothing company?

I recently shot an event for a publication and supplied photo's to them but retain all rights to the images.  Now I have been contacted by the Corporate sponsor of the event and they are asking for 5 images to use internally.  I have replied to them that I need to find out the intended use in order to provide an effective licensing amount.  I'm new to licensing and would appreciate any direction/hints/advice on where to go with this one.

Thanks!

First off, you need to register your images with the copyright office (www.copyright.org), BEFORE any images are released for any type of publication. You need to be aware of any people in the images...model releases? Sometime models have signed releases to be in these fashion shows. You don't want to be haunted by a model coming to collect from you.

Definitely register the images and then you need an agreement and license signed by both parties for the usage which specifies exact usage and the fee
