United States United StatesPromo image use for global educational publisher - what to quote?

I have provided many images for editorial use for this company in the past but do not know what to charge for commercial use. They have asked me for a quote for use of one image in promotional materials for their curriculum at 1/4 page, 150,000 print run, electronic as well as print, with unlimited, non-exclusive rights.

Hi Ellen,

I wouldn't grant unlimited, non-exclusive rights to presumably a book publisher. In fact you say the print run is 150,000 but if it is unlimited they can run as many as they want. I would suggest that you limit the print run to 150,000 and grant them 2 years usage in English Language for North America only at a fee of between $450 to $650. I would add 100% for promotional usage.

Thanks, Seth, this is a good starting point.I want to make sure, though, you are including electronic rights for the suggested fee, as you did not mention it. -- Ellen

For Electronic Rights I would add 30 to 40%
