I am a former wildlife biologist/environmental educator who turned to professional photography around 1995. I shoot mainly nature, wildlife and landscapes and do a considerable amount of travel photography. My stock photography includes significant collections from the Canadian arctic, Greenland, Antarctica, Newfoundland and Labrador, Scotland and the Hebrides, Costa Rica, the Seychelles, the Galapagos Islands, several countries of Africa and New Zealand, My income arises from a mix of photo-related activities including the sale of prints, leading photo tours/workshops, assignments, guiding on expedition ships to the arctic, eastern Canada and elsewhere, and selling stock for publication. Polar bears, icebergs, glaciers, seabirds, and whales are among my most significant subjects. I have published three photo books, my most recent of which is Enchanted Light, The Galapagos Islands and Ecuador. My work was selected as one of 40 other visual artists to represent Canada at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. Much of my work has a strong environmental consciousness based on previous profession as a biologist and environmental educator and life-long immersion in nature.
